Bob Proctor - The Societal Influences That Create Barriers to Success
Based in Bellevue, WA, Parahat Akyshov is a project coordinator with Act on Electric, LLC, and focuses on strategies that satisfy clients and respect the bottom line. Passionate about professional self-improvement, WA resident Parahat Akyshov particularly enjoys the motivational works of success-driven entrepreneurs such as Bob Proctor.
In an interview, Bob Proctor described the barriers that many find standing in the way of success. Many of these tie back to a subconscious conditioning that relates to influences from those who raised us, as well as a “tendency to act like those around us.” This can be severely limiting, as the vast majority of people work productively for four decades or more and at the end of their careers have very little money saved. According to Proctor, only five percent of Americans end up living comfortably, having achieved financial independence.
Proctor describes the silver lining to this fact as being that “anyone can win,” with the caveat that, in order to do so, it makes sense to start thinking for oneself rather than following the herd. This process involves taking time and effort to visualize exactly what is the end goal and then setting out to accomplish it. Among those whom Proctor singles out as having achieved success on their own terms are Thomas Edison, Buckminster Fuller, and Guglielmo Marconi.
